제목 Polymer draw solutes having thermo-sensitive and ionic moieties for forward osmosis (FO) process
초록 Forward osmosis (FO) process has attracted grwoing attention in various applications, including wastewater retreatment, desalination, energy generation, osmotic membrane bioreactors and food processing due to its potential advantages, such as low energy consumption and less fouling propensity. Although many research efforts have been devoted to FO system, several critical challenges are still remained in developing suitable draw solutes. In this study, we synthesized copolymer series having ionic and thermo-sensitive moieties in order to use the copolymers as a draw solute in a FO system. The osmotic pressure and low critical solution temperature (LCST) was controlled by changing the monomer composition of the copolymers. Reasonable water flux and large draw solute recovery value were observed in this copolymer system, indicating that this copolymer system could be a prospective candidate as a draw solute.
