Redox flow battery has attracted much interest as a large-scale energy storage technology in recent years. Because it has advantages of the energy efficiency, long life-cycle and low costs compared with other technologies. However, the crossover of bromine are the limitation of the commercialization of membranes for zinc-bromine redox flow battery. In this study, Nafion/nanoparticle hybrid membranes were prepared by the solution blending with silica, zirconium. They will be employed as the separator for zinc-bromine redox flow battery. The effects of nanoparticles and morphology were investigated by LCR meter and SEM. Physico-chemical properties are characterized by IEC, water uptake and conductivity. The bromine permeability of the membrane was measured with the UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The nanoparticles might reduce the crossover of bromine and enhance the mechanical properties of membrane. |
