The critical role of residual lithium on surface of Ni-rich NCM cathode materials for all-solid-state batteries |

Typical NCM particle employedfor LIBs possess hierarchical morphology in which Li+ transferthrough crack is prohibited. Considering the different features of solidelectrolyte from a liquid electrolyte, here, we examined various cathodematerial design factors (particle size, morphology, and particle hardness) toachieve long-life cycle and good rate capability of ASBs. The crackinggenerated during electrode compression and the gradual particle structuredisintegration upon cycling are observed for LIB-grade NCM particle. Thismorphological failure was suspected as the main reason for a continuouscapacity fading. In the other hands, NCM particles in which particle hardnesswas conferred by tailored morphology design show improved cycling performances.The detailed results will be discussed at the meeting.
