We manufactured highly porous graphite nanofibers (GNFs) by a physical activation in order to develop promising energy storage materials. The activation was done in the range from 800 to 1050℃ of the activation temperature. The pore structures of the porous GNFs were analyzed by N2/77K adsorption isotherms. As a result, it was found that the specific surface area of the porous GNFs was over 2000 m2/g at 1050℃ of the activation temperature with well-developed micro and mesopores. The specific capacitance from the porous GNFs manufactured were enhanced with increasing activation temperature of the samples, attributed to the increase of the specific surface area. However, in the excessively activated sample, the specific capacitance was slightly decreased despite of higher specific surface area than that of other samples probably due to the decrease of the electrical conductivity. |
