제목 AgCl/WO3 nanocomposite as a visible light driven photocatalyst
초록 Development of photocatalyst effective under visible light has been the major issue among the researchers these days. Out of several methods of making visible light responsive photocatalyst, nanocomposite photocatalysts are the most effective among others. In this regard AgCl/WO3 composite photocatalyst has been synthesized by Microwave assisted hydrothermal process. The composite was prepared using Sodium tungstate and Silver nitrate as precursors. The synthesized nanocomposite was characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, BET, DRS and XPS and Dyes removal test. Photocatalytic activity was measured by UV-vis spectrophotometer with degradation of Methylene Blue (MB), Indigo Carmine (IC), and Rhodamine B (RB) as model dyes. The composite photocatalyst successfully degraded these dyes under visible light using solar simulator and performed the excellent activity. Degradation mechanism of the dyes followed the first order kinetics. Increase in the activity of the nanocomposite might be due to the formation of hetero-junction between AgCl and WO3. Formation of hetero-junction between two catalysts effectively prevents the electron-hole pair recombination so that these electrons and holes can participate for reduction and oxidation which ultimately results the successful degradation of the dyes.
