The IMC-PID control algorithm is widely used in the process industries because of their simplicity, robustness and successful practical application. The published IMC-PID tuning rules reveal that they give the satisfactory set point tracking performance but poor load disturbance suppression. Horn et al. (1996) have proposed the filter, which consist of the first order lead and second order lag to get the better result over conventional IMC filter structure, but its performance is also not comparable to Ziegler and Nichols (1943) particularly in the lag time dominant process. Therefore in the present study the IMC filter is modified for disturbance rejection structure. Simulation results clearly show that it gives the better performance in comparison to reported results in the literature. |
