Immobilization of bisphosphonates on the nanotube surface of titanium discs and their interaction with bone cells |
초록 |
Bisphosphonates (BPs) are analogues of pyrophosphate, which are widely used for the treatment of different pathologies associated with imbalances in bone turnover. Titanium materials are extensively used for biomedical purposes because of their good biocompatibility, biological responses, osseointegration, excellent mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and relatively low cost. The purpose of this study is to immobilize pamidronate (PAM) on the TiO2 nanotube formed on titanium discs (nt-TiO2) and to evaluate their interaction with bone cells. Immobilized nt-TiO2-PAM (nt-TiO2-PAM) was prepared by the coupling of aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) onto nt-TiO2, followed by reaction with L-glutamic acid and then PAM. These surface-modified nt-TiO2 were characterized by electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA). The potentiality of nt-TiO2-PAM for use as bone substitutes was assessed by culturing bone cells such as osteoblasts and osteoclasts. |
