Size Effect of Nafion/Silica Hybrid Membrane Prepared by Bar-Coating Process |

Redox flow batteries are the electrochemical storage systems to save the high density energy. The redox flow batteries are designed to convert and store the chemical energy to the electrical energy. One of major parts in redox flow batteries is membrane because that determines costs and life cycle of batteries. In this study, the Nafion/silica hybrid membranes for zinc-bromine redox flow battery were prepared with different sizes of silica. They were casted by bar-coating process and will be employed as the separator for zinc-bromine redox flow battery. The silica sizes and dispersion states were investigated by SEM. And the mechanical strength and conductivity were investigated by UTM and LCR meter. The bromine permeability of the membrane was measured with the UV-VIS spectrophotometer. Also, the energy efficiency of zinc-bromine redox flow battery was measured by the unit cell tester. |
