In this work, the effect of surface treatment of pitch-based carbon felt (PCF) was studied in the contact of chromium ion adsorption. Surface properties of the PCF were determined by pH, acid-base values, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. N2 adsorption isotherms at 77K were investigated by BET and BJH methods to characterize specific surface areas and pore volumes of the PCF. The chromium ion adsorption rates onto PCF were measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). |
