Preparation of Silica-Coated Gold Nanoparticles (Si-Au NPs) Probe for Molecular Imaging |

In recent year, there has been considerable interest in the synthesis of silica nanoparticles that have potential applications, such as drug storage and release, and large bio-molecule immobilization system. The aim of our work is to prepare silica-coated gold nanoparticles (Si-Au NPs) probe for molecular imaging. Coating nanoparticles by in situ synthesis reaction provides an alternative method to increase their stability. And gold has been widely used for its remarkable X-ray absorbance, although using the small amount of gold. The UV-visible spectra for gold nanoparticles before and after coating showed that the optical properties of the gold nanoparticles were changed. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images for silica-coated and uncoated gold nanoparticles were also shown. |
