제목 Effects of EB irradiation on the electrical properties of polyimide film
초록 Polyimide has such incredible mechanical and thermal properties that it is used in place of glass and metals in many high performance applications in the electronics, automotive and even the aerospace industries. In this study, effect of electron beam (EB) irradiation on electrical properties such as conductivity, dielectric constant and tan delta of polyimide films were investigated. Polyimide films were exposed to EB irradiation in argon at room temperature over a dose range of 0-40 MGy. The irradiated films were characterized by LCR meter, FT IR spectroscopy. A plot of conductivity versus log frequency displays a sharp increase in conductivity. The dielectric constant is observed to change with the radiation dose. It suggests that EB irradiation converts the polymeric structure into a hydrogen depleted carbon network, which makes the polymer more conductive.
