This study investigated ionic liquid colorimetric sensor in order to propose a novel and facile fabrication method for washable and reusable gas sensor. Through complexing with ionic liquid, hydrophilic chlorophenol red dye exhibited hydrophobic properties, and the dyes were not released into water. The sensors well detected acetic acid gas and were simply and quickly regenerated by exposure to tap water. Optical properties of the sensors with various molar ratios of dye and ionic liquid were examined, and the optimum value was found as 1:50. The ionic liquid colorimetric sensor is a promising technique for household consumer electronics such as a Kimchi and a standard refrigerator in which the sensor can easily guide the kimchi fermentation and food freshness to consumer. |
