제목 Preparation and Latent heat Property of Nano/Micro-encapsulated n-Eicosane
초록 Latent heat storage is one of the most efficient ways of storing thermal energy. Phase-change materials (PCMs) have been attracted in the research of latent heat storage due to their high latent heat of transition, high energy density and low cost. Recently, new technique of encapsulation of PCMs has been reported. Encapsulation technique is the packaging of materials both liquids and solids in the form of capsules, which range in size from less than 1 um to more than 300 um. Micro-encapsulated PCMs show many advantages, such as increasing heat transfer area, reducing PCMs reactivity towards the outside environment and controlling the changes in the storage material volume as phase change occurs. In this study, nano/micro-encapsulated n-Eicosane was prepared from emulsion polymerization. Capsule size was measured by particle size analyzer (PSA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Latent heat property was determined by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). From the TEM image and PSA results, average size distribution of nano-encapsulated n-Eicosane was about 250 nm to 400 nm, and from the DSC, their ΔH was 75 J/g.
