Acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) were modified with silane coupling agent, 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane, to improve the wettability of PSA on the thin wafer. Variations in contact angle, probe tack, and peel strength of acrylic PSA were studied depending on the content of silane coupling agent. The silane-modified PSA showed an adhesion to the wafer surface under low contact pressure, large contact area, and short contact time because Si-O bonds in silane coupling agent had low surface tension, low surface energy, and high ability of film forming. The adhesion property of PSA was improved with increase in silane content due to the improved wettability of adhesive on the substrate. |
