Surface plasmon resonance(SPR) induced by metal nanoparticles(NPs) such as Ag, Au, Cu and Al in polymer solar cells(PSCs) increases the absorption coefficient of electron donating conjugated polymer, leading to an enhancement in photocurrent of device. Consequently it improves a performance of the PSC. In this work, we report the results of comparative study of SPR effect on device performance of the two types PCSs --- bilayer and bulk-heterojunction(BHJ) PSC. To investigate an effect of SPR on performances of both devices, we have separately inserted Ag nanoparticles in the interface of election donating P3HT layer and electron accepting PCBM layer for bilayer PSC and in BHJ layer of P3HT and PCBM materials for BHJ PSC. In addition, we compare the performances of devices with those of devices without Ag NPs. |
