Acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSAs) have been used for protective films, self-adhesive tapes, and polarizing films. In this study, we examined the possibility of synthesis of electron beam-cured PSAs based on acrylic copolymers. Acrylic copolymers with high molecular weights were first synthesized by the radical polymerization of n-butylacrylate, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate, and acrylic acid. The synthesized PSAs were applied to LCD polarizing films, and then cured by electron beam irradiation. The characteristics of the PSAs, such as peel resistance, creep strength, and light leakage, were investigated according to the composition of the acrylic copolymers and electron beam dose. |
