Fabrication of CNT AFM Probe for High Resolution Imaging and Their Applications |

The use of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for AFM tip has been studied for various materials. Most of these applications require increased sharpness and robustness of probes. Here we describe a reliable method for generating CNT AFM probes prepared by using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique. We synthesized thiophenol-modified single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT-SHs). We found that SWNT-SH bundles could be attached to AFM tips by the LB technique. Also, we measured various samples using the CNT tip. For example, Au colloid with 3 ~ 8 nm in diameter and standard sample with 1 um in depth and 1.5 um in width. From images obtained by CNT tip, we could know that measured image didn`t have any difference with real sample. |
