Organic-inorganic hybrid composites were prepared from a fluorinated polyimide and silica via sol-gel process. The hybrid composites were evaluated by FTIR, XRD, UV, SEM, AFM, TGA and DMTA. The FTIR spectra suggested the conversion from polyamic acid into polyimide and successful incorporation of silica into polyimide matrix. The transparency of hybrid films decreased with increasing amount of silica. The microstructure and interfacial interaction of the hybrid composites were also evaluated. The thermal stability and Tg of the polyimide were increased with adding silica. The increase in the thermal stability and Tg indicate strong interaction between polyimide and silica. |
