제목 | The Current Status of Cathode Materials for LIB: Mobile and Electric Vehicle Applications |
초록 | The Li-ion battery (LIB) is the most popular energy storage device in consumer electronics because it has advantages of energy density and power density over other batteries. Recently, its applied category has been expanded to the power source of automobile. As auto makers compete to develope various types of electric vehicles (HEVs, PHEVs, EV), specific LIB models are being developed by battery makers. Since the LIB is introduced to the world, battery makers and researchers have put lots of efforts to improve energy density. Yet, the hunger for more energy has not satisfied in application fields. There are four important elements in a LIB such as cathodes, anodes, electrolytes, and separators. Among them, the cathode material is a key element to increase the energy of the LIB. Cathode materials are transition-metal oxides typically. Metal oxide frame takes a role of hosting Li+. Therefore, its crystal structure should be stable over the wide range of Li+ concentration in the frame work. Types of transition-metal, the ratio of Li to transition-meal, and the structureare determine the properties of cathode materials. Characteristics of most widely used cathode materials will be covered in this work. |
