Recently, low glass transition temperature polymers such as photorefractive materials were developed as poly(N-vinyl carbazole)-based composites containing plasticizers, NLO chromophores, and charge sensitizers. However, the incompatibility between the guest molecules and the polymer host imposed a limit on the amount of guest molecules in the matrix. From these points of view, we employ here a reformation of controlling the phase-separation and a possession of high performance NLO-active properties. In this work, our laboratory is currently working on the synthesis of two kinds of materials. First, photoconductive polymers doped with low molecular mass NLO chromophores and second, bifunctionalized low molecular mass glassy compounds. |
