제목 Facile modifications of polyimide via chloromethylation (Ⅴ): A study on photoalignment effect of chloromethylated polyimide exposed by polarized UV light
초록 Novel soluble 6FDA-ODA polyimides containing various substitution ratios of chloromethyl side group have been prepared and characterized by our previous series studies. In this work, the photo-effect of polymer films was investigated by UV-vis and FT-IR spectroscopy. The homogeneous alignment of liquid crystal was induced by this novel polymer film with irradiation of polarized UV light. A surface anisotropy of the film was found after the irradiation due to the photoreactive chloromethyl side group of polyimide. The photoalignment effects of polymer film was studied with various exposure doses. The pretilt angle was also measured to be less than 1° by crystal rotation method. By DSC and TGA spectroscopy, this novel chloromethlyated polyimide was observed to be stable up to 250 ℃. The photoalignment effect was not affected by the 365 nm UV irradiation. Hence, chloromethylated polyimide could be applied as alignment layer of LCD with high thermal and photo stability.
