Multi-Scale Pore Generation from Controlled Phase Inversion for Li-Ion Batteries |

I will present a simple phase inversion method to prepare a separator with multi-scale pore structure in order to enhance their charge/discharge performance, cycle performance, and dimensional stability, so as to improve the performance and safety of reinforced Li-ion batteries. Two different phase inversion behaviors can induce unique pore structure with small pores embedded in large pores. Several positive effects resulting from the deposition of the inorganic layer were evaluated as a function of its thickness, confi rming the superior thermal and dimensional stability at high temperature, and extended cycle life. This study introduces a new paradigm for the separators of Li-ion batteries that can decrease the possibility of battery explosion. |
