Hollow tubules of polyaniline (PANi) are formed by chemically synthesizing PANi through the pores of microporous and nanoporous particle track-etched membranes. Thickness of PANi tubules are investigated by the function of different experimental parameters such as the polymerization time, the reagent concentration, and the pore size of membrane on the synthesis process. The change in inside-diameters of PANi tubules, depending on each parameter, are analyzed using a Field-Effect Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM). PANi tubules with the void spaces show the relative enhancement in electronic conductivity compared to its bulk conductivity. This result may be explained as the difference of relative conjugation lengths in the PPy tubules. The electronic conductivity of the conducting polymer is absolutely dependent on the morphology of polymer. |
