Preparation of chitosan/ polylactic acid/ graphite oxide/ hydroxyapatite biopolymer nanocomposites and their mechanical property variations |

Biopolymer nanocomposites were prepared by a novel in situ coprecipitation method of hydroxyapatite and chitosan in the presence of polylactic acid and graphite oxide. Their structures and morphologies were investigated by scanning electron microscope. Hydroxyapatite nanoparticles and graphite oxides were distributed uniformly within the chitosan/polylactic acid matrices. The crystalline structures of graphite oxide were examined using X-ray diffraction. Compositional characteristics of biopolymer nanocomposites were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The mechanical properties of the nanocomposites were evaluated by measuring the compressive strength and the elastic modulus. |
