An efficient microwave-assisted synthesis of BiVO4 nanocrystals, using bismuth nitrate pentahydrate (Bi(NO3)3.5H2O) and sodium orthovanadate (Na3VO4) as the starting precursors, ethanol and water as the solvent, together with postassium oleate as the additive reagents, has been developed. The mixed solution was treated in the microwave with an irradiation power at 300, 600 and 900 Watt for 5, 10, 20 and 30 min, respectively. The physical and photophysical properties of the samples were characterized by TG/DTA, XRD, Raman, PL, TEM and DRS. We also investigated the photocatalytic activity of these materials for the decomposition of rhodamine B under visible light irradiation. |
