One-dimensional Au bipyramids could be successfully synthesized through seed-mediated methods using cetyltriamonium chloride(CTAC), which acted as a surface-stabilizing and shape-directing agent, Ag+ions, ascorbic acid, and Au nanoparticle seeds. Ag+ions, which added in the optimized quantity, critically affected the development of Au bipyramids with sharp deges. The lengths and optical properties of the synthesized Au bipyramids could be controlled with precision by varying the amount of salicylate anions added during the synthesis. Therefore, efforts to design and develop such nanostructures in a controllable fashion have produced a library of new nanomaterials that can be applied. The soft template-based synthesis techniques could find wider application if the lengths of the 1D Au nanostructures synthesized could be controlled by varying the structural parameters of the rod-shaped micelles used as the soft templates. |
