Carbon-based materials have been used as the electrode for supercapacitors. To achieve high capacitance, carbon materials are required to have high surface area and proper morphology. Also, to improve the energy density and cycling stability, pseudocapacitive metal oxides are frequently combined with carbon materials. For example, MnO2 is considered to be an attractive oxide due to its abundance, low cost and eco-friendly. In this work, carbon nanosheet was prepared by spray pyrolysis from sucrose. Hollow carbon with a thin shell was prepared by introducing polyethylene glycol and carbon hydrazide into the aqueous solution containing sucrose and sodium bicarbonate. The hollow carbon was turned into nanosheet via a simple milling. Also, Mn nitrate was introduced into the precursor solution, and the resulting carbons were investigated in terms of porosity, microstructure, and electrochemical performance. Resultantly, the carbon nanosheet prepared showed high specific capacitance and good recycling stability, compared with the commercial available ACPs. Also, the specific capacitance could be further improved by preparing the carbon with small amount of Mn nitrate. |
