Upconversion (UC) is defined as conversion of near infrared (NIR) into visible light. UC phosphors have various application area including bio-imaging, display devices, temperature sensing, solar cell, security ink, etc. For achieving high upconversion emission, researchers are seeking proper host material and synthetic method of upconversion phosphors (UCPs). The host materials play a key role of determining the upconversion efficiency of UCPs. Also, the particle size and microstructure are critical to determine the emission properties. CeO2 has low phonon frequency and good chemical stability as the host of UCP. In this work, CeO2:Ho3+/Yb3+ green emissive particles were synthesized by spray pyrolysis. To improve the emission intensity, several organic additives were used, and the microstructure and emission characteristics of CeO2:Ho3+/Yb3+ is investigated with changing the type of organic additive and its concentration. |
