Facile synthesis of pitch-based activated carbon/tubular polypyrrole composites with enhanced electrochemical performance as supercapacitor electrode materials |

In this work, we synthesized petroleum-pitch-based activated carbon/tubular polypyrrole (ACPPy) composites with various weight ratio of T-PPy. The electrochemical performance, including capacitance and cyclic stability, of the resulting composites was investigated. The influence of the T-PPy content on the electrochemical properties and changes in pore structure were also examined. The morphology of composite were observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The specific surface area of the composites were calculate from N2 77K adsorption/desorption isotherms by the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) equation. The electrochemical performance of the prepared composites was characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge/discharge (GCD) measurements using an IviumStat electrochemical workstation (Ivium Technologies). The results demonstrate that the T-PPy/AC ratio affects the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors. |
