제목 High capacity silicon anode materials designed by spray pyrolysis
초록 The increasing demand on high energy density has driven the battery community to explore higher capacity anode materials in lithium ion batteries (LIBs). In particular, the community has found a number of promising candidates that could partially or fully replace conventional graphite (~350 mAh/g). Despite the promising capacity increase, these new anode materials (i.e., Si, Sn, metal oxides, etc.) suffer from inferior cycling performance, and it has turned out that electrode design plays a critical role in the cycling performance. Spray pyrolysis has been used for years in various applications (rechargeable battery, fuel cell, photocatalyst, display, sensor, bioceramic, etc.) but has also found unique advantages for high capacity LIB anodes, such as uniform mixing among composite components, void space control to accommodate large volume change of active materials, formation of secondary micro particles while containing nanostructured primary particles so that tap density on the industrial standard can be met, and established scalability through long manufacturing history. Thus, in this talk, I will present the various silicon composite synthesized by spray pyrolysis and its electrochemical performance.
