A novel form-stable composite as phase change material(PCM) for thermal energy storage was prepared by mixing the stearyl alcohol(SA) and halloysite nanotube(HNT) in ethanol solution under ultrasonic irradiation, followed by complete drying. The SA/HNT composite PCM was characterized by TEM,FTIR,DSC. Thermal cycling test revealed that the SA could be retained by 50wt% into the HNT without the leakage. The melting temperature and latent heat of the composite(SA/HNT:50/50 wt%) determined by DSC were 59.13℃ and 111J/g, respectively. Because of high heat storage capacity, low cost, simple preparation method, the composite can be considered as cost-effective latent heat storage material for practical application such as solar energy storage, building energy conservation. |
