Surface of carbon fiber is modified with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) using electrophoresis as functions of electrophoretic time, voltage and the distance between electrodes, and the surface morphology is observed by FE-SEM. The surface-modified carbon fiber with MWNTs is compounded with poly(phenylene sulfide) and the physical properties of the composites are evaluated with the content of carbon fiber in terms of flexural modulus, strength, and conductivity. We observe that physical properties of the composite enhanced by the surface modification of carbon fiber with MWNTs. |
