제목 Design of an amine scrubbing-membrane separation hybrid CO2 capture plant for steelmaking industry
초록 Steelmaking industry is a major industrial CO2 emission sector, and application of carbon capture and storage (CCS) to blast furnace is an urgent problem. Top-gas recycling blast furnace (TGR-BF) is a promising solution that capture CO2 from the blast furnace gas and recycle the CO2 lean gas released from the CO2 capture plant. Hybridization of amine-scrubbing and membrane separation provides potential to improve the CO2 capture process from the original technologies by reducing the utility consumptions. This study designed four cases that capture CO2 from blast furnace gas: Case I (amine scrubbing), Case II (membrane separation), Case III (hybridization of amine scrubbing and membrane separation) and Case IV (hybridization of amine scrubbing and membrane separation with heat recovery). Case IV utilize combustion heat of CO and H2 impurities in CO2 product with pure oxygen blow to amine scrubbing plant. This article evaluates the cases under four criteria based on techno-economic analysis (TEA) and CO2 lifecycle analysis (CO2 LCA) accompanied with sensitivity analysis. Analysis results concluded that Case IV is the best among the four cases with the lowest CO2 avoidance cost.
