Graphene, the two-dimensional (2D) carbon material, has attracted great interests due to their electrical, mechanical, and chemical properties. To utilize these fascinating properties of graphene for consumer electronics, many researchers have made effort to synthesize large-scale graphene. Although Hong et al. established the large-scale graphene synthesis by using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method in 2009, this technique that takes a few hours from heating and synthesis to cooling limits the throughput of graphene production. Herein, we demonstrated a new approach for fast fabrication of graphene by light-induced heat treatment. The duration of light is 15ms, all thermal process such as heating, synthesis, and cooling takes place within this duration, about four orders of magnitude faster than conventional CVD process. Light-induced graphene synthesis would not only be one of the best ways to mass-produce the graphene, but also facilitate graphene-based device applications. |
