Cellulose fiber was treated by electron-beam (E-beam) to improve their thermal stability. The properties of pure cellulose and E-beam treated cellulose fibers were analyzed by SEM, FT-IR, XPS, and TGA. Initial decomposition temperature (IDT) and integral procedure decomposition temperature (IPDT) was calculated from TGA. Cellulose fiber was decomposed into hemicellulose, and was formed cross-linked bond by E-beam treatment at the same time. Cellulose fibers decreased IDT and increased IPDT depending on increasing of E-beam absorbed dose. 1500 kGy E-beam treated cellulose fiber was indicated the highest IPDT of all samples. |
