Insufficient electrical contact between electrode and current collector in the lithium rechargeable batteries accelerates the electrochemical performance degradation of the battery system. In this work, the effect of an electrochemically surface-roughened Cu foil, as an anode current collector, on Si electrodes for lithium rechargeable batteries is investigated. By utilizing highly surface-roughened Cu current collector upon the Si electrode, cycling performance of the Si electrode has been highly improved. The surface-roughened Cu current collector also improves the adhesion properties between electrode composite and current collector. We verified this issue by measuring surface adhesion force using peeling tests. 2032 coin half-cells are used to evaluate the electrochemical performances of the electrodes, and peeling strength was also measured by Versatile Peel Analyzer. Scanning electron microscope, confocal optical microscope are used for further analysis. |
