Porous polymers are increasingly important materials for separation, catalysis, and nanotemplating. Solution self-assembly of block copolymers (BCPs) into inverse bicontinuous cubic mesophases is a promising new approach for directly creating porous polymer films and monoliths with highly organized bicontinuous mesoporous networks without suffering from post-processes for pore generation. This new synthetic strategy could be greatly beneficial in creating highly ordered porous polymeric materials in the form of colloidal particles as well as films and monoliths In this occasion, we show that the first example of the direct solution self-assembly of block copolymers into the triply periodic minimal surfaces of the BCP bilayers, which consequently forms large mesoporous monoliths. |
