Abstract: The preparation of polypropene (PP)/waste ground rubber tire powder (WGRT) microcellular composites via supercritical carbon dioxide was carried out with the pressure-quench process. The effects of batch processing conditions like foam pressure and temperature and blend composition like the ratio of waste ground rubber tire powder (WGRT) and maleic anhydride-grafted styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS-g-MA) on cell size, cell density and relative cell density of PP/WGRT microcellular composites were studied. The results indicated that the microcellular structure was dependent on the processing conditions and blend composition. Both higher WGRT and SEBS-g-MA content resulted in smaller cell sizes and higher relative densities, whereas both higher foam pressure and temperature lead to larger cell sizes and lower relative densities |
