제목 | High Dispersion of supported metal catalysts by ammonium functionalization of porous supports |
초록 | Supported non-noble metal (e.g., Co, Ni, Cu) have attracted significant attention due to their low costs and potential to replace noble-metal based catalysts in industrially relevant catalytic applications. However, their catalytic activity is lower compared to that of noble-metal catalysts. Therefore, the amount of non-noble metals loaded has to be higher (typically, 10-30wt%) to achieve competent activities, considering to the limited size of industrial reactors. For such high levels of loading, metal dispersion becomes very poor. Herein, we report a simple and facile method to obtain high dispersion of the supported metals with high levels of metal loading (~30wt%). The key steps are as follows: in the case of support, ammonium groups containing the ammonium groups [i.e., -C3H6-N+(Me)3(OH)- were uniformly grafted on the pore walls of supports. In the case of metal precursor solution, before the metal loading on the support, the metal salt solution was titrated with NaOH to the point close to the critical point of precipitation. Based on XRD, TEM, and sorption analysis, we showed that this novel approach is applicable to a wide range of suported species and support materials. |
