Flashover Characteristics of Wood Specimens treated with Talc Compound |

This study was investigated to test the combustion properties of wood specimens for interior construction, especially focusing on flashover characteristics. The Fashover parameters was measured by using a cone calorimeter (ISO 5660-1). The external heat flux was maintained at 35 kW/m2. Talc was dispersed with sodium silicate sol. An experiment was performed on the change in the concentration of Talc. The flashover propensity was high grade for cypress wood and SS, and the other specimens were obtained with intermediate grade. Total heat release was 73.13 to 86.19 MJ/m2. All specimens were shown to have an intermediate level of fire risk due to total heat release. The wood specimens treated with Talc resulted in lowering flashover propensity of cypress wood by one grade. |
