Nitrogen oxide (NOx) causes various environmental pollution such as smog, acid rain, and fine particulate matter. Hence, NOx regulation has been continuously tightened due to its harmfulness, so the necessity for developing de-NOx technologies has emerged. In this study, we developed and investigated Ir-based bimetallic catalysts for the selective catalytic reduction of NOx by carbon monoxide (CO). It was found catalytic performance has improved when a transition metal has been introduced to Ir catalyst compared to an Ir-only catalyst. Particularly, the Ir-Co catalyst showed much higher de-NOx performance than Ir only and other Ir-based bimetallic catalysts. Furthermore, the catalytic activity of various Ir-Co catalysts in which the content of Co was changed from 1.5 wt.% to 20 wt.% was evaluated. Ir-10Co catalyst, which Co loading was 10 wt.%, showed the highest NOx conversion achieving 60 % at 250 ℃. |
