제목 Photoluminescence from discotic liquid crystals
초록 Luminescence from conjugated polymers and other small molecules in the solid states have been increasing attraction due to their application for LED. But there have been relatively small number of studies for liquid crystals and their photoluminescence ablities. Because of π-conjugated central core of DLC (DLCs), we have adopted discotic liquid crystals (DLCs) for photoluminescence materials.
We have synthesized 4-(4-styrylstyryl)pyridine derivatives, and benzene-1,3,5-triol was used as discotic central core. DLC was prepared from hydrogen bonding between pyridyl groups and hydroxy group. Characterization of DLC was done by NMR, DSC, IR and XRD. And then properties of photoluminescence was measured.
