Among thecomponents in a PEMFC, platinum(Pt)-based electrocatalysts and their associatedcatalyst layers contribute over 55% of the total cost. Many groups haveattempted to reduce the amount of Pt in PEMFC systems, and variouscases have been reported to exhibit improvement of the catalytic activity. In this study, we have demonstratedvarious type of the Pt-M alloy catalyst with incorporated non-precious metalsinto the nanostructured catalysts. The catalysts were synthesized by the microwaveassisted polyol process, and the atomic ratio of the Pt-M alloy catalysts wasoptimized. The prepared catalysts as cathode catalyst in PEMFC were evaluatedthe various electrochemical properties by cyclic voltammetry. The ORR performanceof the Pt-M alloy catalysts were analyzed by linear sweep voltammetry and single-celltest. As a result, we have successfully synthesized the Pt-M catalysts that hadexcellent electrical performance compared to Pt catalyst among various metalalloy catalysts. |
