Since their discovery, phthlocyanines have become one of the most extensively studied classes of compounds because of their unique structure, their extremely high stability and their potential for commercial exploitation. This class of compounds has attracted a great deal of research interest because of their intense coloration and diverse redox chemistry associated with both 18 π-electron system of the phthalocyanine ring and the central metal atom. The reported procedures for the preparation of chlorine substituted phthalocyanines of copper, cobalt, Iron and Zinc from chloro phthalic anhydride. |
