Peptide nanotube effects for fmoc-diphenylalanine peptide hydrogel |

Hydrogels have enormous potential to be used in biomedical applications due to their high water-holding capacity, suitable mechanical strength, controlled release of the active ingredients, and biocompatibility. However, it is difficult for a single system to satisfy all the above-mentioned requirements. N-fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl diphenylalanine(Fmoc-FF) forms a hydrogel under physiological conditions. Some Fmoc-FF hydrogel exhibited low stability and will seriously limit their utilization in biomedicine, such as drug delivery. Peptide nanotube(PNT) is selected as a stabilizer. In this study, the Fmoc-FF/PNT hybrid hydrogel was prepared through molecular self-assembly of Fmoc-FF. The main purpose in this research is to improve the stability of Fmoc-FF hydrogels. The hybrid hydrogel containing PNT 7% has enhanced mechanical strength compared with that of Fmoc-FF hydrogel alone. The physicochemical properties of this hybrid hydrogel were investigated. |
