Chemical Looping Performance Evaluations of Oxygen Carriers Substituted Cu and Mn into MgAl2O4 Spinel Support |

n this study, we focused on the CuxMg1-xMnyAl2-yO4 oxygen carrier and simulated the methane circulation combustion process by simultaneously fixing Cu2+ and Mn3+ ions in MgAl2O4 spinel structure instead of Mg2+ and Al3+ ions. The efficiency of Cu0.75Mg0.25Mn1.0 Al1.0O4 particles in H2-N2 and CH4-CO2/air oxidation-reduction systems was 7.71 % and 7.61 %, respectively. The rate of redox reaction is proportional to the concentration of Cu2+. In particular. As a result, it was found that Cu2+ affects both the Cu2+ and Mn3+ in the oxygen transfer, although it affects the oxygen transfer rate in the redox reaction. Finally, the study concluded that the active metal species of Cu2+ and Mn3+ ions were stably immobilized in the spinel structure, indicating reversible oxygen defects in the spinel structure and maintaining excellent oxygen delivery capability over a long period of time. |
