Recently, there has been of great interest in the baroplasticity of certain polymer mixtures. In an attempt to study the pressure effects, we have chosen polystyrene (PS)-block-poly(octyl acrylate) (POA), which is comprised of one block with high Tg and the other with low Tg. We have studied order-to-disorder transition (ODT) for the material under pressure using 40M small angle neutron scattering (SANS) at HANARO. The phase behavior of PS-b-POA was shown to enhance miscibility under pressure, but its pressure dependence was weaker than expected. To account for the observation, a simple theoretical argument will be given. |
