Aromatic polyamides have thermal stability and high strength, make themselves attractive in many applications. However, their processability is quite limited due to hydrogen bonding, poor solubility in common organic solvents, and the high melting points. In order to improve the processability, other co-segments can be incorporated into the polymer chain. Recently, crosslinked polymer membranes were being studied for membrane materials. In this study, sulfonated arylene ether sulfone and m-phenylene isophthalamide were copolymerized in the presence of end-capping agents to prepare crosslinkable prepolymer and to check the possibility as membrane materials for fuel cell application. |
