Fatigue Life Prediction of CNT/PP Composites Under Compressive Bending by Electrical Resistance Measurement |

The change in electrical resistance was investigated as a damage index of quasi-isotropic carbon nanotube reinforced polypropylene (PP) under compression fatigue loading. The compression strength was measured during bending test. Prediction of microcrack for CNT-PP was detected using changing ratio of electrical resistance. Microdamage during compression fatigue test was changed as electrical resistance changing ratio due to various CNTs contact points in CNT-PP. As compression fatigue test, larger change of electrical resistance was detected. It was proved that microcracking could be detected by electrical resistance measurement under compression test. Real delamination parts was consist with electrical resistance prediction results. Acknowledgements: This work was supported from Future Project by Hyundai Motor Company, 2012.
