Reactive Black Removal using Lanthanum Oxide modified graphene oxide foam |

Lanthanum Oxide modified graphene oxide foam (La-GO/F) was synthetized from graphite oxidation via the modified Hummers method and then functionalized with lanthanum oxide and chitosan to obtain the novel Lanthanum Oxide modified graphene oxide foam. Scanning electron and atomic force microscopies, Raman and infrared spectroscopies and X-ray diffraction were employed to characterize GO, La-GO and La-GO/F. This foam was then evaluated through the sorption of anionic Reactive Black (RB). pH effect analysis showed that the maximum adsorption of anionic RB at pH 6. Langmuir isotherm best fitted the adsorption of dye onto La-GO/F and showed maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of 132.87 mg g-1 for RB. Adsorption kinetics indicated that the system reached the equilibrium state within 240 min .Additionally, pseudo-second-order model was better fitted to the experimental data for the adsorption of dye in La-GO/F. |
